ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of services provided by Melonie de Guzman Program Management Services Inc., operating as Career Strategy Lab ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By engaging our services, you agree to these Terms in full.
Our principal place of business is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Our website is meloniedeguzman.com.
1. SERVICES PROVIDED
Career Strategy Lab offers professional career coaching services, including but not limited to:
8-week intensive career coaching program
One-on-one weekly coaching sessions
Job search support and accountability
Resume and LinkedIn profile optimization
Interview preparation and mock interviews
Strategic career planning and personal branding
100 targeted job applications submitted on your behalf through our AI funnel
Story banking for interview preparation
Negotiation guidance when offers are received
Post-program bi-weekly accountability sprints
Specific program details, deliverables, and duration are outlined in individual Client Agreements.
2. PAYMENT & BILLING
2.1 Payment Methods
We accept payment through Stripe. Payment plan options (such as Klarna) may be available and will be processed through Stripe's platform.
2.2 Payment Timing
Full payment or first installment payment is required before program commencement. No services will begin until payment is received.
2.3 Payment Plans
If using installment payment options through third-party providers (such as Klarna), you are responsible for fulfilling all payment obligations according to the terms set by that provider. Failure to complete payments may result in suspension of services.
2.4 No Refunds
All sales are final. We maintain a strict NO REFUNDS policy. Once payment is made, no refunds will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to: inability to participate, dissatisfaction with services, early program completion, or personal circumstances. This policy is a material term of our agreement.
3. SCHEDULING & CANCELLATION
3.1 Scheduling Sessions
Coaching sessions are scheduled through Calendly or as otherwise agreed upon. You are responsible for booking and attending scheduled sessions.
3.2 Rescheduling Policy
You may reschedule any one-on-one coaching session with at least 24 hours advance notice. Rescheduling requests must be made through the scheduling platform or via email.
3.3 Late Cancellation/No-Show
If you cancel or fail to attend a scheduled session with less than 24 hours notice, that session will be forfeited with no opportunity to reschedule or receive credit.
3.4 Three No-Show Termination
If you fail to attend three (3) scheduled sessions without communication or response to our outreach attempts, your enrollment will be terminated immediately with no refund.
3.5 Provider Cancellation
If we need to cancel or reschedule a session, we will provide as much notice as possible and will reschedule the session at a mutually convenient time at no penalty to you.
3.6 Bi-Weekly Accountability Sprints
For the post-program phase, bi-weekly accountability sessions are pre-scheduled and subject to the same 24-hour cancellation policy.
4. COMMUNICATION
4.1 Communication Channels
Primary communication occurs through WhatsApp for between-session support and Slack for scheduled coaching sessions and program materials. You will receive access to these platforms upon program enrollment. Additional communication may occur via email or scheduled video calls.
Note: We are currently transitioning our primary communication platform from Slack to WhatsApp. You will be informed of any updates to communication channels.
4.2 Business Hours
Our standard business hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Messages received outside business hours will be responded to on the next business day.
4.3 Response Time
We commit to responding to messages and emails within 36 business hours during business hours.
4.4 Professional Conduct
All communication must be professional, respectful, and empathetic. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for:
Harassment or bullying of any kind
Discriminatory language or behavior
Threats or intimidation
Abusive or aggressive communication
4.5 Immediate Termination for Misconduct
Any violation of professional conduct standards will result in immediate termination of services with no refund and removal from all program platforms.
5. SCOPE OF SERVICES
5.1 Career Coaching Services
We provide career coaching, job search strategy, professional development guidance, resume and LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, and related support services.
5.2 Services NOT Provided
We do not provide and you should not request:
Personal therapy or mental health counseling
Legal advice or HR policy interpretation
Financial, tax, or accounting advice
Medical or health-related advice
Immigration or visa consultation
Certification or professional licensing guidance
Relationship or family counseling
5.3 Professional Referrals
If your needs fall outside our scope, we may refer you to appropriate licensed professionals in the relevant field.
6. NO GUARANTEED RESULTS
6.1 Outcomes Disclaimer
While we provide expert guidance, support, and proven strategies, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes including but not limited to: job offers, salary increases, promotions, or career advancement.
6.2 Factors Beyond Our Control
Your results depend on multiple factors including but not limited to: your individual effort and commitment, job market conditions, economic factors, employer decisions, your qualifications and experience, timing, geographic location, remote work availability, and other circumstances beyond our control.
6.3 Your Responsibility
Your success requires active participation, completion of assigned work, implementation of strategies discussed, consistent effort throughout the program, and genuine engagement with the coaching process.
7. PROGRAM DELIVERY
7.1 Program Structure
The Career Strategy Lab program consists of two phases:
Phase 1: 8-week intensive program with weekly one-on-one coaching sessions (1 hour each)
Phase 2: Bi-weekly accountability sprints (30 minutes each) for up to 6 months following the completion of Phase 1
7.2 Phase 1: Initial 8-Week Program
During the 8-week intensive program, you will receive:
Weekly one-on-one coaching sessions
Access to your personalized Notion workbook with all session materials, templates, and AI prompts
Resume and LinkedIn profile optimization
Interview preparation and mock interviews
Story banking for behavioral interview questions
100 targeted job applications submitted on your behalf through our AI funnel
Slack/WhatsApp access to the coach between sessions during business hours
7.3 Phase 2: Post-Program Bi-Weekly Accountability Sprints
Following the completion of your 8-week program, you will transition to bi-weekly accountability sprint sessions (30 minutes each) for a maximum of 6 months or until you secure employment, whichever occurs first.
During accountability sprints, you will:
Check in on job applications and pipeline
Report on upskilling progress
Discuss networking efforts and career strategy execution
Receive accountability and support from your coach
Work together to adjust strategy as needed
7.4 Program Completion
If you secure employment during either Phase 1 or Phase 2, you will still receive the full duration of support outlined in your Client Agreement unless otherwise specified. Employment does not shorten the program timeline.
7.5 Extended Support After 6 Months
After the 6-month post-program sprint period ends, you may opt to continue bi-weekly accountability support at a rate of $300 CAD per month, billed monthly. This extended support is optional and can be canceled at any time with no refund for partial months.
7.6 Technical Issues
In the event of technical difficulties (platform outages, connection issues, etc.), affected sessions will be rescheduled at no penalty to you.
7.7 Program Modifications
We reserve the right to make reasonable modifications to program materials, tools, and delivery methods, provided that core deliverables outlined in your Client Agreement remain substantially the same.
8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
8.1 Client-Specific Materials
Materials created specifically for you (resume, LinkedIn profile edits, personalized career plans, interview prep materials) become your property upon creation.
8.2 Program Materials
All program materials including but not limited to workbooks, templates, frameworks, methodologies, course content, and training materials remain the intellectual property of Career Strategy Lab and are protected by copyright law.
8.3 Limited License
You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use program materials for your individual career development only. You may not:
Share, distribute, or sell program materials
Copy or reproduce materials for others
Claim authorship of our materials or methodologies
Use materials for commercial purposes
8.4 Proprietary Methodologies
All proprietary frameworks, processes, and branded content (including "Career Strategy Lab," career strategy frameworks, and related branding) remain the exclusive intellectual property of Career Strategy Lab.
8.5 Client-Created Content
You retain ownership of content you create based on program learnings, provided you do not misrepresent our methodologies as your own original work.
8.6 Testimonials and Marketing
You may publicly discuss your experience working with Career Strategy Lab. We may request permission to use your testimonial or success story (anonymized or attributed) for marketing purposes, which you may grant or decline.
9. CONFIDENTIALITY & PRIVACY
9.1 Information Collection
We collect and maintain the following information: name, email address, phone number, resume/career history, LinkedIn profile, and any other information you provide during the coaching relationship.
9.2 Third-Party Tools
Your information may be processed through third-party platforms including:
Stripe (payment processing)
Calendly (scheduling)
Slack (communication)
WhatsApp (communication)
Google Meet/Zoom (video conferencing)
Notion (program workbook and materials)
Each platform maintains its own privacy policy.
9.3 Information Sharing
We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
As required by the tools listed above to deliver services
As required by law or legal process
With your explicit consent
9.4 Marketing Use
We may use anonymized success stories or general program outcomes for marketing purposes. We will request separate permission before using any identifiable testimonials or case studies.
9.5 Confidentiality Limitations
While we treat all client information as confidential, we cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality due to:
Shared platforms (Slack groups, if applicable)
Required legal disclosures
Technology vulnerabilities
Do not share information that could harm your interests if disclosed.
9.6 Data Retention
We retain client records for a minimum of 6 years to comply with tax and business record requirements. After this period, records may be deleted unless ongoing business needs require retention.
9.7 Data Deletion Requests
You may request deletion of your personal data by emailing us at melonie@meloniedeguzman.com. We will delete all personal information within 30 days, except records required for legal, tax, or regulatory compliance.
10. SHARING & ACCESS RESTRICTIONS
10.1 Non-Transferable Access
Your program access, including WhatsApp, Slack, materials, and coaching sessions, is personal to you and may not be shared with, transferred to, or accessed by any other person.
10.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
11. TERMINATION
11.1 Termination by Client
You may discontinue participation at any time; however, no refunds will be provided regardless of reason for termination or time remaining in the program.
11.2 Termination by Company
We reserve the right to terminate your participation immediately for:
Violation of professional conduct standards
Three consecutive no-shows without communication
Breach of these Terms
Any other reason at our sole discretion
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
All access to platforms (Slack, WhatsApp, materials, etc.) will be revoked
No refunds will be provided
Outstanding payment obligations remain due
You retain materials already delivered to you personally
12. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
12.1 Informal Resolution
In the event of any dispute, concern, or complaint, you agree to first attempt informal resolution by contacting us directly to discuss the matter.
12.2 Good Faith Effort
Both parties agree to make a good faith effort to resolve disputes through direct communication before pursuing formal legal channels.
12.3 Formal Proceedings
If informal resolution is unsuccessful, disputes will be resolved through appropriate legal channels as outlined in Section 13.
13. LEGAL PROVISIONS
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
13.2 Jurisdiction
You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and agree that any legal proceedings must take place in Ontario, Canada.
13.3 Entire Agreement
These Terms of Service, together with your signed Client Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Career Strategy Lab regarding the services provided.
13.4 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
13.5 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
13.6 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your program enrollment. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.
13.7 Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be noted with an updated "Last Updated" date. Modified Terms apply only to Client Agreements signed after the modification date. Clients enrolled under previous Terms remain subject to those Terms for the duration of their program.
13.8 Electronic Acceptance
Your electronic acceptance of these Terms (via electronic signature, clicking "I Agree," or commencement of services) constitutes your binding agreement to these Terms.
14. BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP
14.1 Independent Contractor
You acknowledge that we are providing services as an independent contractor. No employer-employee, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship is created by these Terms or the provision of services.
14.2 Business Capacity
You enter into this agreement in your capacity as a professional seeking career services, not as a consumer in certain jurisdictions, which may affect your legal rights.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
These Terms of Service are effective as of the date of your Client Agreement signature and remain in effect for the duration of our business relationship.
